The World Cup in Qatar kicked off at 19.00 Moscow time with the Qatar-Ecuador match at the Al-Bayt stadium in the city of El-Khaur.
A little earlier, the 2022 World Cup was announced open by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Qatar has published the following rules for guests and participants of the championship:
no to homosexuality;

no dating;
no profanity;
dress modestly;
no loud music or noise;
You can't take pictures of people without permission.
Social media users called these measures "the worst nightmare of the West."
World Cup games will be held in eight arenas. All arenas are built in Doha and around the city. The maximum distance between two stadiums is 75 km. Seven of the eight arenas were built specifically for the tournament. Some of the buildings will be preserved, some will be converted into multifunctional centers, and some will be demolished.
