Uzbekistan starts construction of Nizhnechatkalskaya HPP

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - The channel of the Chatkal River in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region was blocked for construction, a 50-meter high dam is being built.

The hydroelectric power plant will consist of four hydroelectric units, each with a capacity of 22.5 MW. The installed capacity of the hydraulic structure will be 90 MW, on average, the HPP will generate 292 million kWh of electricity per year.

When the power plant starts operating at full capacity, it will save the country 91.28 million cubic meters of natural gas.

Russian specialists from the Hydroproject Institute (Moscow) and the All-Russian Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering (St. Petersburg) took part in the design of the dam. They made a feasibility study, according to which they will build a concrete gravity dam 50 meters high.

The new facility is scheduled to be commissioned in 2025.
