Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - The birth rate in Russia from January to September of this year decreased by 6.5%, said Anna Kuznetsova, deputy chairman of the State Duma, head of the United Russia commission for the protection of family and childhood.
“We see that in the first nine months of this year, the birth rate has already decreased by 6.5%,” she said in her video message to the participants of the All-Russian Women's Forum at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
She added that for every 10 marriages there are now 7 divorces, and the ratio has remained about the same in recent years.
Kuznetsova recalled that a special group on demography has been created under the party commission to support motherhood and childhood. “Now we are working on various initiatives in the main areas: improving measures to support families with children, developing family infrastructure and strengthening family values, among them is securing the status of a large family at the federal level, supporting young, student families,” the TASS deputy quotes.
According to her, some initiatives have already been implemented, for example, family multifunctional centers are being created, thanks to which support for families becomes available.
