In Ukraine, print media are obliged to publish in Ukrainian

All print media in Ukraine from January 16, 2022 will have to be published in the state language without fail, according to the press service of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of the republic.

The print media were reminded of the obligation enshrined in the law "On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language."

The department noted that this rule will temporarily bypass only local media: for them it will come into force only on July 16, 2024.

In the Ukrainian-language print media, according to the remarks of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting, it will not be possible to enter any information in Russian, including announcements and advertisements.

However, there are exceptions to this rule for English, the official languages of the European Union (EU) and the languages of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine.

Newspapers and magazines in Ukraine will be able to be published in Russian only if they are duplicated in the state language.

Earlier it was reported that the magazine Elle Ukraine was first published in Ukrainian.
