Russian LNG was transported to Norway

Russia (bbabo.net), - Russian LNG is being transported to Norway, which this year has become the largest gas supplier in Europe. The cargo will be delivered on December 2.

According to navigation portals, the Coral Energice LNG tanker is heading from the medium-tonnage Cryogas Vysotsk LNG complex in the Baltic Sea to Norway. On December 2, the ship will deliver about 9 million cubic meters of gas in the form of LNG to the terminal in the port of Fredrikstad.

Deliveries of Russian LNG to Norway, which itself is one of the largest exporters of gas, including LNG, are obviously connected with the Finnish Gasum. Gazprom stopped deliveries of natural gas to the company, as it refused to switch to a new settlement mechanism. However, it continued to buy Russian LNG, as it is not subject to restrictions.

In addition to Finland, Gasum also supplies gas to Sweden and the eastern regions of Norway. And there is just a terminal in the port of Fredrikstad, which belongs to a Finnish company.

As bbabo.net reported, alternative suppliers have replaced all the volumes of gas that Russia reduced supplies, the European Commission said. Ship brokers, meanwhile, are talking about an increase in Russian LNG supplies to the EU countries.

“In January-October 2022, LNG exports from Russia to the European Union grew by 41.8% to 13.5 million tons (18.6 billion cubic meters),” ship broker Banchero Costa said in a weekly report, citing Refinitiv data. For 10 months, deliveries increased by 5.4 billion cubic meters. Analysts note that 49.8% of Russian LNG goes to the EU this year.

At the same time, Russia is one of the largest suppliers of liquefied natural gas to the EU. For 10 months, its share in the significantly increased European LNG imports amounted to 16.5%.

In part, this situation has developed, among other things, at the expense of Asian countries. For example, the German government temporarily nationalized Gazprom Germania, whose trader has obligations to supply Yamal LNG to India. However, since June, Arctic liquefied gas has not gone beyond Europe, data from navigation portals show.

According to Banchero Costa, global exports of liquefied natural gas from Russia this year grew by 11.3% and is second only to the United States at 12%. In January-October, 27.2 million tons (37.5 billion cubic meters) were exported from Russia. After the European Union, Japan remains one of the main consumers of Russian liquefied gas, and China has taken the third place instead of South Korea. He increased imports by 21% to 4.4 million tons (6 billion cubic meters).

The main sources of LNG from Russia are the Yamal LNG, Sakhalin-2 and Cryogas Vysotsk projects. In September, deliveries began from Gazprom's new LNG complex at Nord Stream on the Baltic Sea coast - Portovaya. The first two cargoes (100 million cubic meters each) were also delivered to Europe - to Greece.
