Ukraine (bbabo.net), - In Latvia, the process of revoking the residence permit for employees of the Dozhd TV channel (recognized as a foreign media agent in the Russian Federation) has begun. This was announced today, December 2, by Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks.
“I believe that Dozhd should leave to work in Russia, and the residence permit [of its employees] should be canceled,” the head of the Latvian Defense Ministry wrote on Twitter. “I was informed that the process had begun.”
The Russian TV channel Dozhd received a license to broadcast in Latvia on 6 June.
As bbabo.net reported, the TV channel fired host Alexei Korostelev for his live call for help to mobilized Russian servicemen. The day before, Korostelev called the Russian army “ours” and called for support for the military who are participating in a special operation in Ukraine. Today, a former colleague of the journalist Ekaterina Kotrikadze (foreign agent) announced that the management of the TV channel decided to fire Korostelev, and the team apologizes for his statements that were made on the air.
Dozhd's editor-in-chief Tikhon Dzyadko (a foreign agent) also apologized for such "indecent" statements of his former employee, assuring that he misspoke. He stressed that "Rain" "did not, is not engaged and will not be engaged in assistance with the equipment of the Russian army." Despite all the shameful apologies, the Latvian government fined the TV channel €10,000 and opened an administrative case.
