Underproduction of iPhone-14 smartphones in China will be 16 million pieces - experts

Asia (bbabo.net), - Against the backdrop of tough anti-COVID measures imposed by the Chinese authorities in the city of Chengzhou, where the iPhone factory is located, the production figures for the 14th series of gadgets of this brand may decrease by 16 million points compared to previous predictions. This was announced today, December 2, TASS reports with reference to Bloomberg.

The resource cites data from analysts at the Swiss bank UBS, according to which 76 million iPhone 14 smartphones will be produced in the second half of 2022. Previously, the figure was 92 million. Thus, they predict that iPhone production will decrease by 20% compared to 2021.

According to the bank, the decrease in production will be due to the problems of Foxconn in the city of Zhengzhou, where the world's largest iPhone assembly plant is located. On November 24, the city authorities announced the introduction of a lockdown amid a rise in the number of new cases of coronavirus infection. On November 30, the restrictions were lifted.

“It is important to monitor whether the longer wait times for the iPhone 14 Pro Max are impacting demand. The speed with which Apple and Hon Hai can resolve problems in Zhengzhou is a key factor in determining production volume in the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023,” the analysts said in the conclusion.
