Abdollahian and Borrell synchronized watches on Iran's nuclear program

Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borrell had a telephone conversation and discussed the latest developments in negotiations on lifting anti-Iranian sanctions.

This was reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA on December 3. In a telephone conversation, the parties discussed issues of mutual interest, including the cooperation of the Islamic Republic with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as negotiations in Vienna to lift anti-Iranian sanctions and return to the 2015 nuclear deal - the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). ).

Hossein Amir Abdollahian praised Borrell's role in creating conditions for interaction and negotiations and criticized several European ministers for undiplomatic behavior, saying that today some radical politicians hide behind the EU and abuse the bloc's reputation.

The Iranian foreign minister went on to say that as a result of this behavior, the strategic goals of the European Union were sacrificed to the interests of some "seekers of violations and even terrorists" who provide politicians with incorrect information.

The senior diplomat also stressed the importance of the role that the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy can play to deter the bloc from such unconstructive moves.

Borrell mentioned his efforts to help all parties in Vienna return to their commitments under the JCPOA, stressing that he will continue his consultations to lay the groundwork for a consensus on the issue.

Earlier, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Council, Shahriyar Heidari, said that "the Iranian people will not wait for the decision of Western states regarding nuclear achievements."

In turn, MP Ali-Reza Salimi noted that since nuclear activities "are carried out by the Iranian people and parliament and are part of the country's strategic policy," the government and the Islamic Consultative Assembly are determined to ease the sanctions imposed by the West on Iran in this regard.

As reported by bbabo.net, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said earlier that Iran offered nothing new during a recent meeting in Vienna over its nuclear program, but added that talks would continue soon.
