Caucasus (bbabo.net), - In accordance with the agreement on cooperation in the military sphere, concluded between Azerbaijan and Turkey, joint exercises of the two countries are being held, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan reported today, December 5.

Training maneuvers, conducted with the involvement of personnel of various types of troops, combat and special engineer-sapper equipment, as well as military aviation of the Azerbaijani army and the Turkish Armed Forces, cover the city of Baku and the territories of the Astara, Jabrayil and Imishli regions of the Transcaucasian Republic.

According to the scenario of the exercise, units of the ground forces, air force, special forces, engineering troops, rocket and artillery troops of the Azerbaijani army, together with the Turkish military, perform various combat training tasks.

In the exercises, taking into account the methods of conducting modern combat, various tasks are performed on the use of artillery, aviation and other types of troops in military operations, organizing coherence, building pontoon bridges across rivers, as well as landing troops in the depths of a mock enemy. The main attention during the joint exercises was paid to ensuring combat coherence in the interaction of troops, improving command and control, exchanging experience and increasing the professionalism of personnel, the Azerbaijani military department noted.

The three regions of Azerbaijan mentioned above are on the border with Iran. In this regard, the suggestion arises that Baku and Ankara are responding with joint maneuvers to Tehran's military activity on the northern borders of the Islamic Republic, which is recorded against the backdrop of another aggravation of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations.
