Italian Defense Ministry denied information about sending artillery to Ukraine

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The Italian Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday evening that no trains with artillery pieces were sent to Ukraine.

“With regard to the video circulated on some social networks, as well as on the website of the newspaper La Repubblica about the transport of artillery howitzers on railway flat cars, the Italian Ministry of Defense, “having checked the images, refutes this news,” Adnkronos quoted the defense department as saying.

The Ministry of Defense explained that this was an old video recording, which recorded "the transportation of howitzers across the national territory for training purposes."

In March, the Italian parliament approved a resolution on rendering assistance to Ukraine, including military assistance. Five interdepartmental decrees were formed with a list of supplied weapons, which is classified. Last week, the government approved a decree extending military assistance through 2023. However, work on the new package is said to have not started yet. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani reported that Rome sent more than 50 tons of electrical equipment, transformers, and many technological tools to Kyiv.

On December 6, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said that the Italian authorities would not form a new package of military assistance to Ukraine until the end of the year.
