Asia (bbabo.net), - By selling arms to Taiwan, the United States is seriously violating the Sino-American agreements, as well as posing a threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. This was stated on Thursday by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, reports December 8, TASS.
“The sale of arms by the United States to the Chinese region of Taiwan is a flagrant violation of the One China principle and is contrary to the three joint communiqués of the United States and China, in particular the communiqué of August 17, 1982, the supply of arms undermines sovereignty and security, threatens peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and also send a false signal to the separatist forces in Taiwan,” she said at a briefing.
Mao Ning urged the United States to return to the observance of the "one China" principle and abandon the practice of using the Taiwan issue to contain the PRC.
Earlier on Dec. 7, the US State Department approved a possible sale of aviation parts and other equipment to Taiwan for a total of about $430 million, the US Department of Defense Security Cooperation Agency said on Tuesday. It is responsible for the supply of military equipment and weapons abroad under intergovernmental contracts.
