China to boost used car exports

Asia (bbabo.net), - The Chinese authorities have allowed the export of used cars to 14 more regions, including the provinces of Liaoning, Fujian and Sichuan. This was reported by Xinhua News Agency on December 6, citing a joint notice from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Public Security and the General Administration of Customs.

According to the document, the authorities of the regions that have received such a permit must develop standards for admission to the used car market for local enterprises, regulate selection procedures and provide support in the conduct of export business to companies that have access to used cars, sales channels abroad and are able to provide after-sales services.

The notice notes that government agencies need to make more efforts to simplify the procedures for registering sales transactions, obtaining licenses and customs clearance in order to create favorable conditions for the export of used cars.

China officially started exporting used cars in May 2019. Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Guangdong province were among the 10 administrative divisions that were the first to receive permission to export used cars.

According to official figures, 13.3 million used cars were sold in China in the first 10 months of 2022.
