The Russian Foreign Ministry explained the postponement of negotiations with the United States on START

USA (bbabo.net), - Moscow's decision to postpone the meeting with US representatives on the topic of offensive arms reduction (START), scheduled for late November, was political and was motivated primarily by the US position on Ukraine. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

“The decision was difficult, this decision was political. It has already been said more than once that the situation with the ever deeper and more dangerous involvement of the United States in what is happening in Ukraine and around it had a direct impact on our considerations as to whether to hold this meeting right now. A negative conclusion was made that now is not the time to meet in this format,” the Russian diplomat explained.

According to him, the decision to postpone the meeting was partly influenced by the lack of an agenda agreed to by the end. However, Ryabkov noted that "if and when the Americans mature enough to resume," Moscow will be ready for this, despite the fact that the dialogue on START has been rather difficult before.
