Armenia intends to buy weapons in new markets

Caucasus (bbabo.net), - Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan stated that the republic is considering the possibility of acquiring weapons of a new quality and is close to substantive results.

“Over the past year, we can say that we are already considering new opportunities that have been provided to us. We knocked on many doors. And this is a natural process,” he said in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia, answering a relevant question.

According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, "we are talking about weapons of a new quality."

“There is a lot of work going on. Certain results are already visible, they are close to the subject,” added Papikyan.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Yerevan was diversifying its capabilities to acquire weapons.

The Indian newspaper The Economic Times also reported that India received a large export order for the supply of weapons to Armenia, it is expected that in the coming months weapons worth almost $ 245 million will be delivered to Yerevan. Sources told the publication that the order provides for the first ever export of multi-barreled jet launchers Pinaka, which are in service with the Indian army, as well as the supply of anti-tank missiles and ammunition.
