Asia (bbabo.net), - The rise of China should not be the reason for its isolation. However, it does not give him the right to hegemony in Asia. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated this article for Foreign Affairs magazine, published on Monday, TASS reports on December 5.
“Many believe that we are on the verge of an era of bipolarity in the international order. They see the dawn of a new cold war approaching, in which the United States will confront China. I do not share this point of view,” writes the Chancellor.
In the post-Cold War period, he said, the United States has assumed a “critical” role that it will retain in this century.
“China has also become the global player it has been for long periods of world history. The rise of China should not be an excuse to isolate Beijing or reduce cooperation. But the growing power of China should also not justify claims for hegemony in Asia and beyond,” Scholz added.
He noted that the EU, the US, the Group of Seven and NATO must "resist the temptation to divide the world into blocs again."
“This means doing everything possible to create new partnerships – pragmatically and without ideological blinders,” concluded Scholz.
