Ukraine (bbabo.net), - Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda called Belarus' proposal to transport Ukrainian grain in transit through its territory a "trap", RuBaltic.ru reports.
The day before, Minsk notified the UN that it would allow the transit of Ukrainian grain for further export from Lithuanian ports without preconditions. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Yury Ambrazevich. He also said that Minsk is seeking fertilizer exports from Belarus.
“The Deputy Foreign Minister informed the Secretary General that Belarus agrees, without preconditions, to the transit of Ukrainian grain through its territory for subsequent exports in Lithuania,” reads a statement about the meeting of the UN Secretary General with Ambrazevich in New York.
The deputy head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry also recalled that his country "is seeking permission to export its fertilizer, which is currently under sanctions."
“In my opinion, this is a trap. This is a trap that they want to lure into, and then show that the West is again behaving inconsistently, cannot agree on sanctions,” Nauseda said.
He also called the Minsk initiative “an old song that we have been hearing for a long time,” and said that Ukraine itself does not trust Belarus.
“How can you trust her if she allows the Russians to do whatever they want on their territory?” the Lithuanian leader asks.
