Ukraine (bbabo.net), - Ukrainian engineers have developed an improvised ground-based light rocket launcher that fires S-8 aircraft missiles, according to the Defense Blog portal today, December 12.
The VM-8 Sivalka is a 16-barreled launcher that uses 80mm S-8KO rockets, typically launched by tactical aircraft and attack helicopters.
The new system allows you to quickly turn light wheeled vehicles into mobile rocket launchers. The Sivalka is mounted on the M1152A1 chassis of the Humvee armored vehicle and the Ford F150 Raptor truck, the American edition notes.
These mobile launchers are effective against all ground targets due to the excellent armor penetration of the S-8KO missiles, according to Defense Blog.
What exactly was the effectiveness of the “rocket cart” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is not explained in the publication.
Last week, information appeared that the United States “secretly” from the Ukrainian leadership modified HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to reduce their firing range. This was done to prevent the Armed Forces from using MLRS to hit targets in Russia, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported, citing sources in the White House. According to the interlocutors of the WSJ, such a measure is also needed to prevent the effective launch of short-range ballistic missiles for the army tactical missile system ATACMS using the installations available to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
