Asia (bbabo.net), - The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, expressed doubts about the competence of the current government of Kazakhstan. This was announced today, December 12, by KazTAG.
“The main task of the government is to deal with the economic problems of the country. This is the direct responsibility of government members, akims, heads of national companies. Therefore, I want to receive a sincere answer from Prime Minister Alikhan Askhanovich Smailov. Is it possible to enter the new year with this composition of the government? Will the government be able to implement the presidential election program? Will the government be able to withstand all external and internal economic threats?” - Tokayev addressed the prime minister at an expanded government meeting.
In his opinion, these issues should be carefully discussed during the consultations of the head of state with the prime minister and members of parliament.
Tokayev noted that the country faces very difficult tasks, which concern all citizens.
“Therefore, we must wisely, while maintaining unity, work together. Parliamentary elections will be held in the country in the first half of next year. In accordance with the program of political reforms I have proposed, the legislature and local representative bodies will undergo qualitative changes. The government should also not remain outside the reform process. This work should be carried out simultaneously, at the same pace. Therefore, I believe that all members of the government should think about this issue,” Tokayev concluded.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan instructed to learn lessons and investigate the utility accident in Ekibastuz and demanded that businessman Alexander Klebanov, whose structures control the Ekibastuz thermal power plant (CHP), pay compensation to the residents of the city. According to Tokayev, the collapse in Ekibastuz finally showed how neglected the situation is in the municipal sector.
The head of Kazakhstan also drew attention to the situation in ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC, where people regularly die, where, as he noted, laws are violated and investment obligations are not fulfilled.
Tokayev added that the monopolists and energy companies associated with them are pocketing excess profits. In addition, the president pointed out that only 43 out of 284 planned investment projects were implemented in Kazakhstan in 2022. At the same time, large producers of raw materials refuse to supply them to the domestic market.
