Asia (bbabo.net), - There have been no discussions of a gas union with Russia and Uzbekistan. This was announced to the Atameken Business TV channel by the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov, reports today, December 12, IA Fergana.
According to him, there were no talks about any gas union.
“We had bilateral conversations. You know very well that I often travel (to Russia - approx. bbabo.net), trying to resolve issues that are related, among other things, to the gasification of the northeast. These are bilateral relations with the Russian Federation. This is the first question. Secondly, there is a relationship with Uzbekistan, since we belong to one system of the Asian gas pipeline - the regulation of the entire gas pipeline system that is connected to us. Thirdly, Uzbekistan has its own relations with the Russian Federation on gas issues, which we do not have, and they solve these issues,” he said.
According to him, since such issues arise, all three parties need to sit down and talk.
“But this does not mean that you need to create an alliance,” Akchulakov added.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to form a "tripartite gas union" was announced by the head of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during his visit to Moscow in late November. The press secretary of the Kazakh leader specified that it is necessary to conduct detailed negotiations on this issue with the participation of experts from the three countries in order to find a rational solution. Later, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry offered to carefully study Moscow's idea, while stating that Kazakhstan would not allow its territory to be used to circumvent anti-Russian sanctions.
