Throw a pretty penny: Zelenskaya will come to Paris with Shmyhal to raise funds

Ukraine (, - The wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive in Paris this Monday. Olena Zelenska will be met at the Elysee Palace by the first lady of France, Brigitte Macron, after which they will both attend a number of events in support of Ukraine, Radio French International (RFI) reports today, December 12.

The delegation includes members of the Kyiv government, including Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

This coming Tuesday, Zelenskaya, together with President Emmanuel Macron, will take part in the international conference "Solidarity of the Ukrainian people", which the head of the Fifth Republic announced in early November after a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky. The latter will deliver a video message during the meeting on the Quai d'Orsay.

On the same day, Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire will host a bilateral forum designed to mobilize French companies in favor of Ukraine in the sectors of infrastructure, healthcare, energy, digital technology and agriculture. Three hundred companies will take part in it, including Airbus, Alstom and Dassault.

According to people close to Zelenskaya, during her Paris tour, funds will be raised to restore civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Among the donors is French screenwriter Michel Hazanavicius, director of The Artist and OSS 117, who promised to donate 125,000 euros from the film props auction.

The evening will end with a concert by Dakh Daughters, a girl group from Kyiv that mixes traditional songs and punk cabaret.

France is one of several western cities after New York and London on Zelenskaya's list of diplomatic stops as she hopes to "strengthen the Ukrainian voice in the world," RFI notes.
