Svetlana Tikhanovskaya will be judged in Belarus

Belarus (bbabo.net), - The case of ex-presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has been sent to court. This was announced today, on December 16, in the Belarusian Prosecutor General's Office.

Tikhanovskaya, as well as Maria Moroz, Pavel Latushko, Olga Kovalkova and Sergei Dylevsky are accused under several articles of the Criminal Code of Belarus at once. They are charged with a conspiracy to seize power, the creation of an extremist group, calls for sanctions and other actions that threaten the national security of Belarus, and inciting social hatred. Also, some are accused of preparing to participate in riots, seizing and holding buildings, obstructing the work of the Central Election Commission, treason against the state, and exceeding official powers. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is charged with more than 10 charges.

Recall that Tikhanovskaya lost the presidential election in Belarus in August 2020. After that, she fled the country and took up coordinating the riots that took place in the republic for several months. Later, other leaders of the local opposition also left Belarus, who announced that they were preparing a new attempt to overthrow Alexander Lukashenko.
