Japan strengthens its influence on the countries of Central Asia

Asia (, - Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi invited colleagues from Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to Tokyo. This was announced today, December 16, by IA with reference to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.

As the press service of the Japanese Foreign Ministry informs, during the parties will discuss joint cooperation, issues of sustainable development of the Central Asian region. International issues will also be on the agenda, including the situation in Ukraine and Afghanistan.

It is reported that Yoshimasa Hayashi will also hold bilateral meetings with his colleagues.

The current talks, which will take place on December 24, will be the ninth in a row in a similar format that has existed since 2004.

Japan has recently paid great attention to the development of ties with the countries of Central Asia. In November, the Association of Members of Parliament for Friendship between Japan and the countries of Central Asia was established in Tokyo. It was headed by the deputy chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, former Prime Minister Taro Aso.

At the beginning of December, the Central Asian Investment Forum (Central Asia Investment Forum 2022) was also held in the Japanese capital with the participation of representatives of authorities and business from the countries of the region.
