Earlier this year, Berlin indicated that they plan to send 16 Biber bridgelayers to the Kyiv regime to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine "overcome water and other obstacles in combat."

According to German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, the first six engineering systems were to be delivered to Ukraine at the end of this year, and ten more in 2023.

Biber is an armored bridge layer based on the chassis of the Leopard 1 tank. The length of the bridge being built by the machine reaches 22 meters, the width is 4 m. The pontoon structure can withstand a load of up to 55 tons.

The Biber is a highly mobile, rapidly deployable assault bridge that can be used to overcome natural and artificial obstacles on the battlefield.
