Ukraine (bbabo.net), - There will be no vacuum in the Transnistrian issue, especially given today's realities and Russia's aggressive behavior. This statement was made on Moldova 1 TV channel by adviser to the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak in connection with the dismissal of the special representative of Ukraine on the Transnistrian problem.
According to him, other diplomats continue to work in this direction. The representative of Kyiv added that there is no double meaning in the decision to dismiss Yuriy Klymenko.
“Klymenko is undoubtedly a very experienced and professional diplomat. What was extremely effective in the “Transnistrian direction”. The current dismissal is connected only with the President's decision to sharply intensify work in the region of the so-called Global South. Klymenko has been appointed ambassador to Argentina, where there has been no ambassador for a long time, ”Mikhail Podolyak concluded.
Today it became known that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree on the dismissal of the Special Representative for Transnistria Yuri Klimenko, who was appointed to this position in February this year, but never reached Moldova.
Recall that the representatives of Ukraine, together with Russia and the OSCE, are intermediary-guarantors in the process of negotiations on the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement, which is now stagnating. At the same time, in February, Ukraine suspended its activities of military observers in the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester, and also refused to work on the Transnistrian issue at the same negotiating table with the Russian Federation.
As bbabo.net reported, after the start of the SVO in Ukraine, the Kyiv authorities repeatedly tried to convince Chisinau to turn to them for help so that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would help "liberate the region from separatists and the Russian presence." The operational group of Russian troops in Transnistria guards the weapons depots left after the withdrawal of the 14th Army and provides a peacekeeping operation. In Moldova, the Russian military was equated with the occupying troops and at the level of the Council of Europe they demand an end to "their illegal stay."
At the same time, Chisinau warned Ukraine: despite the fact that he supports Kyiv in actions against Russia, he will consider it an attack on himself if the Armed Forces of Ukraine invade the Transnistrian region. Zelensky's office, like Klymenko, failed to convince the Moldovan authorities to initiate such a request.
