Caucasus (bbabo.net), - The Moscow City Court sentenced ex-senator Rauf Arashukov and his father Raul Arashukov on December 27 to life imprisonment in a criminal case of two contract killings and the creation of an organized criminal group.
The prosecution asked for life sentences for the Arashukovs, and for four other defendants, terms ranging from five years in prison in a general regime colony to 24 years in a strict regime colony.
The ex-senator was detained in January 2019 during a meeting of the Federation Council. He was accused of organizing the murder of the deputy chairman of the public youth movement "Adyghe Khase" of the KChR Aslan Zhukov and adviser to the head of the republic Fral Shebzukhov, as well as beating a witness to the murder.
According to the investigation, the organized criminal community, which included members of the Arashukov clan and heads of regional branches of Gazprom, operated for about 17 years in the North Caucasus Federal District. Raul Arashukov, being its creator, appointed his relatives to key positions in the gas industry, who then committed actions to steal gas.
Previously, the jury also found guilty of participating in a criminal group of the former acting. the head of the department of the Investigative Committee for Karachay-Cherkessia, Major General of Justice Kazbek Bulatov and the ex-head of the center for countering extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Karachay-Cherkessia Timur Betuganov. Most of the defendants denied guilt. It was recognized by the defendant Guzer Khashukaev. The defendants were also found guilty of stealing gas from Gazprom's subsidiaries for 4.4 billion rubles.
