Latvia is ready to repeat with Stingers for Kyiv: a NATO meeting is coming in Germany

Ukraine (bbabo.net) - Latvia may send another batch of Stinger man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) to Ukraine, Minister of Defense Inara Murniece told Latvian television today, January 10.

According to her, in the second half of January, a conference on future military assistance to Ukraine will be held at the US airbase in Ramstein (Germany). The list of military support from Latvia is already “in your pocket,” Murniece said.

“In fact, the Ukrainian front is our line of defense, so we are now thinking about how to join a large flow of assistance to Ukraine and how to support it, how to respond to the request of President Volodymyr Zelensky,” the minister said.

Riga is considering sending more weapons to Kyiv and training Ukrainian soldiers. Taking into account Latvia's earlier assistance to Ukraine, the Baltic republic could once again offer Stinger MANPADS to Kyiv, the head of the military department noted.

“I met with Ukrainian colleagues, they express their deepest gratitude to Latvia for those Stingers that were sent shortly before the start of the war. It was a very correct decision of the Ministry of Defense (Latvia). We will continue (assistance) with the Stingers, with even more intensive training of the Ukrainian military in Latvia,” Murniece said.

The minister went on to speculate that Ukraine also highly appreciates the unmanned aerial vehicles supplied by Latvia, so Riga may continue to supply them as well.

As reported by bbabo.net, when military aid to the Kyiv regime is compared to national GDP, Estonia ranks first in the ranking of Ukraine's partner countries with 1 percent of GDP. It is followed by Latvia (0.88%) and Lithuania (0.35%). Poland is in fourth place in this "nomination" with 0.3% of its GDP already spent on military assistance to a neighboring country.
