Lithuania proposes to treat Belarusians like Russians

Belarus (bbabo.net), - Citizens of Belarussia should be evaluated equally in terms of a possible threat. This was stated by the head of the State Security Department of Lithuania Darius Jauniškis.

“We understand that there are representatives of the opposition among Belarusians, those who fight for a better Belarus, but we have many facts that sometimes people recruited by the Belarusian KGB come. Not one, not two, not three. We must understand that people sometimes have no choice. If most of the visitors could be trusted, to know that they are representatives of the opposition, but there is no guarantee that some of them do not work for the Belarusian or Russian KGB. The same is true for the citizens of Russia,” he said.

At the same time, he noted that the Lithuanian special services check visitors.

“The facts of the entry of agents of the Belarusian KGB, recruited people, were recorded,” Jauniškis said.

In addition, the head of the Lithuanian Department of State Security believes that the trips of Lithuanians to Russia and Belarus pose a danger both to the citizens themselves and to the state.

“The Belarusian KGB is working very intensively, just like the Russian one at home. I mean, people who cross the border and go to these countries for cheap fuel, cigarettes or something automatic are at risk. We have facts of recruiting people, they are asked, for example, about the political situation in Lithuania, about their work, education, who they are. Gather information, scare to get information,” he said.

Recall that Lithuania almost completely froze political relations with Belarus after the victory of Alexander Lukashenko in the presidential elections in August 2020. After the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, Vilnius accused Minsk of "complicity" of Moscow. At present, cooperation between Lita and Belarus has practically been suspended in all areas, and in Vilnius they are calling for a ban on Belarusians from entering the countries.
