Greater Middle East (bbabo.net) - Ankara called on Moscow to release five Crimean Tatars sentenced in Crimea to 13 years. This was announced today, January 12, by the Turkish state news agency Anadolu.
“We are concerned about the sentence to 13 years in prison for Crimean Tatars Jemil Gafarov, Servet Gaziev, Erfan Osmanov, Alim Karimov and Seyran Murtaza, announced today,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Turkish ministry confirmed that Ankara "supports the rights of Crimean Tatars to live freely and safely in their homeland."
“We expect that the necessary steps will be taken to ensure that all Crimean Tatars imprisoned in Crimea for political reasons, including the Vice-President of the Crimean Tatar people Nariman Jalal, Asan Akhmetov and Aziz Akhmetov, who were convicted in a similar way, will soon time will be freed and returned to their families,” the ministry said in a statement.
