Russia and Iran reach new trade records

Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin at the third meeting of the commission on parliamentary cooperation between the State Duma and the Parliament of Iran today in Tehran said that trade between Russia and Iran increased by 15% last year and amounted to $4.6 billion, cooperation between the two countries covers almost all areas.

At the same time, the share of settlements between the Russian Federation and Iran in national currencies exceeds 60%. Moscow and Tehran are striving to complete the experience of joint application of the Mir and Shetab national payment systems.

Volodin stated:

“The unprecedented sanctions pressure on Russia and Iran confirms that both countries are successfully resisting the expansion of the United States and NATO ... It is extremely important for us to look for more new formats of cooperation, to deepen interaction within the framework of parliamentary communications.”
