“Armenian tourists spent $156.1 million in Georgia in 2022,” the financial regulator reports.
Russia became the leader in this rating, its citizens accounted for a quarter of all Georgia's income - $ 896.5 million. In second place in terms of spending ($ 399.3 million) were citizens of Turkey. In third place with $ 333.2 million are residents of the EU countries.
The top five includes citizens of Ukraine ($282.3 million) and Israel ($270.5 million). This is followed by visitors from Belarus ($253.4 million), Saudi Arabia ($159.8 million). On the eighth line are the citizens of Armenia.
In general, Georgia's income from foreign tourists in 2022 amounted to more than $ 3 billion 517 million. Thus, the previous historical record set in the pre-pandemic 2019 ($ 3.3 billion) was broken.
Last week, it became known that the volume of money transfers to Georgian commercial banks using electronic systems in 2022 increased by 86.1% compared to 2021 and amounted to more than $4.372 billion, which is a historical maximum. Russia remains the leader in terms of money transfers to Georgia.
