USA (bbabo.net), - The US troops in Germany are formally and legally still occupying forces, Russian President Vladimir Putin said today, January 25, at a meeting with students of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
“Soviet troops were in Austria, but they left of there voluntarily ... Russia, as the successor of the Soviet Union, acted as the guarantor of the Constitution of the Republic of Austria and the guarantor of the neutral status of the Republic of Austria. And in general, many ordinary citizens in Austria know this and are grateful to Russia for such a position ... As for other European countries, the situation is complicated, ”Putin said at a meeting dedicated to Tatyana’s Day.
He drew attention to the fact that "the largest country in Europe, the economic giant - the Federal Republic of Germany and the Soviet Union legally formalized the end of its occupation."
“After the Second World War, Germany was divided, as you know, into four sectors - American, British, French and Soviet. So, the Soviet Union formalized the termination of this occupation status, but the United States did not. And, strictly speaking, formally and legally, the territory of the Federal Republic [Germany] is home to American occupying forces. And in fact it is - there are a lot of them," the Russian leader emphasized.
