USA (bbabo.net), - The new US Ambassador to Russia, Lynn Tracy, will arrive in Moscow before the end of January, State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Tuesday.
“We expect Ambassador Tracy to travel to Russia, where she will present her credentials in the coming days. We expect her to be in Moscow by the end of this month,” he told reporters during a briefing.
According to him, "it is currently undergoing a process of consultation with various departments and officials in Washington."
Price confirmed Tracy's recent meeting with Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov in the US capital on January 23rd. He noted that during their conversation, the negotiation process in the Ukrainian direction was not discussed, while he refused to say what the diplomats were talking about.
On Monday, the Russian embassy announced a meeting between Antonov and Tracy in Washington, while the details of the meeting were not disclosed.
On December 21, 2022, the upper house of the US Congress - the Senate - approved the candidacy of Lynn Tracy for the post of American Ambassador to Russia. Thus, Tracy became the first female US Ambassador to Russia.
