Residents of Kabul complain about high electricity bills

Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - The people of Kabul are unhappy with the increase in electricity bills over the past month. They complain that electricity was only available for two hours in January, but the bills still increased compared to other months, TOLOnews reports.

“We have electricity for one hour, we can’t even charge our phones, we don’t have electricity in this harsh winter, this problem has taken over the whole country, especially Kabul,” said Kabul resident Roya.

“Last month we had electricity for two hours at night, we just filled the tank with water, but now the electricity bill is 3,500 afghani,” said Mansour, a resident of Kabul.

Meanwhile, the former head of the energy holding DABS said that the reason for the increase in electricity bills is the high consumption of electricity by the population and incorrect calculations by employees of the energy company Breshna.

“There was a violation by previous employees, unfortunately this is happening now, in winter the roads are not in order, and employees cannot walk everywhere and count bills,” said Amanullah Ghalib, the former head of DABS.

Meanwhile, Bresna Sherkat refuses to admit mistakes.

“We encourage people, if they have any doubts about their electricity bills, to take a picture from their meter and compare it with their electricity bills, if there are any problems, share them with us,” said the head of DABS Hekmatulla Akhundzade.

It should be noted that Afghanistan buys most of its electricity from the countries of Central Asia and Iran, so the lack of electricity in Kabul and some provinces of the country has caused strong criticism of the Afghans.
