Asia (bbabo.net), - Washington and Seoul agreed to expand joint exercises in 2023. This is stated in a joint statement by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and South Korean Minister of National Defense Lee Jong Sub, released today, January 31, by the Pentagon press service.

“The two leaders also committed to further expand and increase the level and scope of joint exercises and training. To this end, both leaders agreed on the need to take into account changes in the security situation, including recent moves by the DPRK on its nuclear and missile programs,” the statement said.

The parties also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the exchange of information on the missile threat from the DPRK, TASS quotes.

As reported, Austin arrived in the Republic of Korea on a visit on January 30.
