NATO looks forward to strengthening partnership with Japan - Stoltenberg

Asia (bbabo.net), - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance is looking forward to further strengthening partnership with Japan. He made such a statement during a visit to the Iruma military base of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, located in Saitama Prefecture, neighboring Tokyo, reports today, January 31, TASS.

According to Stoltenberg, this is based on the fact that the alliance and Tokyo share common values.

“Let me express my full support for the strengthening of the partnership between Japan and NATO. We live in an increasingly dangerous and increasingly unpredictable world. And so we need strong partnerships between countries and alliances that believe in freedom and democracy,” he said.

NATO Secretary General thanked Japan for providing support to Ukraine.

“The war in Ukraine is of great importance to all of us, and therefore we are also very grateful for the support provided by Japan,” he said.

Stoltenberg is on an official visit to Japan, during which he intends to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Two days earlier, the NATO Secretary General also visited South Korea, where he held several bilateral meetings with the country's leadership.
