Americans put an end to a half-century milestone in world aviation

USA (bbabo.net), - The USA stopped production of Boeing 747 aircraft. Atlas Air will receive the last aircraft. The 747 has been in production for over 50 years, according to the Financial Times today, January 31.

The last aircraft of this model will be released in the 747-8 Freighter modification. It will be assembled at the plant in Everett.

“This aircraft, since unveiled at the Paris Air Show in 1969, has captured the spirit of the jet age and, with its capabilities, efficiency and range, has helped make commercial flying accessible to the masses,” the publication says.

Boeing corporate historian Michael Lombardi confirmed the landmark event and added that "the Boeing 747 shrank the world."

The latest aircraft of the 747 series will be released with a payload of 133.1 tons, which, as clarified by the editors of bbabo.net, is enough to carry 10,699 gold bars. Prior to the development of the Airbus A380 and its first flight in 2005, the Boeing 747 was the largest, heaviest and most spacious passenger aircraft in the world.
