Tajikistan intends to develop its oil and gas sector

Asia (bbabo.net), - Tajikistan is negotiating with partners to attract investment in the development of its oil and gas sector. This was announced today, January 31, by Sputnik Tajikistan news agency.

Such a statement, as the agency reports, was made by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the country Daler Juma.

According to him, the republic intends to develop the oil and gas sector, because despite the annual growth in hydrocarbon production, the recoverable volume remains insignificant.

“We are simultaneously attracting investments for the extraction and production of oil and gas in Tajikistan. We are negotiating with partners on this matter,” Juma said.

He noted that the ministry, together with companies operating in this market, plans to continue exploration work.

“Thanks to these projects, we will be able to ensure the energy security of the country,” the minister added.

At the same time, Juma stressed that Russia remains one of the main suppliers of oil products to Tajikistan, and that a mechanism for deliveries has been worked out between the countries, which is clearly being implemented.

“The next indicative balance sheet for 2023 was recently agreed. We see a significant increase in the consumption of oil and gas products,” he said on this occasion.

In addition, the minister mentioned the supply of oil and gas from Iran, recalling that this issue was discussed at a meeting of the Tajik-Iranian intergovernmental commission in Tehran.
