Abramovich to give Ukraine £2.3bn proceeds from Chelsea FC sale

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - In the near future, Roman Abramovich will transfer to Ukraine a historic amount of 2.3 billion pounds sterling, proceeds from the sale of the Chelsea football club. The British The Telegraph writes about this.

It should be noted that in order to process the sale of the club, Abramovich had to seek permission from the British government. Officials oversaw the deal to ensure that not a single pound went to the Russian businessman, although Abramovich initially stated that the money from the sale would go "to help victims in Ukraine." Then the funds that the oligarch promised to transfer in favor of the victims of hostilities to Ukraine “frozen” for some time. Now the government is concluding an agreement with Abramovich, under which a fund will be created to help Ukraine, to which 2.3 billion pounds will be transferred.

The fund will be headed by the former head of the British office of the UN Children's Fund UNICEF, Mike Penrose. In the next few weeks, more detailed information should appear on how the fund will be managed and what projects to implement.

The news has already been commented on by the former Minister of Defense of the DPR, Igor Strelkov (Girkin):

“The Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation decided to help the so-called. "Ukraine" not only with tiramisu and iPhones, but also with a modest amount of 2.3 billion pounds. Since Russia will definitely not become poorer, and for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in a difficult situation, these funds will be very useful to deter the aggressors.”
