When asked by a Japanese journalist about whether the balloons that were spotted in the air near Japan in 2020 and 2021 belong to China, the diplomat replied that she was not aware of the situation he was talking about, after which she moved on to the next question.

Earlier, at a press conference in Tokyo, Deputy Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers Yoshihiko Isozaki said that the Japanese government is clarifying and, together with the United States, analyzing information about the alleged appearance of Chinese balloons near the country in June 2020 and September 2021. According to him, Tokyo will make every effort to closely monitor what is happening.

At the same time, he did not confirm the data on the fixation of these objects in the airspace of the country. Isozaki also refused to report on the actions of the country's armed forces in connection with the appearance of balloons, citing secrecy.
