The relevance of such a comparison was confirmed to journalists by the head of the risk minimization department of the Turkish Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), Orhan Tatar.

Orkhan Tatar confirmed that the first earthquake lasted 65 seconds, the second lasted 45 seconds. The magnitude reached 7.7, which, according to the expert, is equivalent to the energy of 500 atomic bombs.

Prior to this, the Turkish geophysicist Ahmet Ercan equated the earthquake to the explosion of 100 nuclear bombs.

Analysts are already counting the damage caused to Turkey by the February storm. More than six thousand buildings were destroyed in the country, more than 80 thousand people were injured. The total damage to Turkey and neighboring Syria reaches 2-4 billion dollars.
