Financial Times: Latin America is for peace and rejects requests for weapons for Ukraine

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The Financial Times on February 15 states: “Latin America rejects requests to send weapons to Ukraine”, thereby advocating peace. According to the publication, the reluctance of Latin America to supply weapons to Ukraine “is in sharp contrast with the position of European countries that supply Kyiv with weapons.”

The publication cites the position of Mexican President Manuel Obrador, who criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for agreeing to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine, saying that Berlin was forced to do so against the wishes of most Germans "due to pressure from the German media."

In turn, Colombian President Gustavo Petro stressed:

“Even if they end up in Colombia as scrap metal, we will not transfer weapons to be taken to Ukraine to continue the war.”

In turn, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva notes:

"Brazil is not interested in transferring ammunition for use in the war between Ukraine and Russia."

Argentina took a similar stance, according to the FT. "Argentina is not going to cooperate with the war," a spokesman for the country's defense ministry said. "We should not 'cooperate' by sending weapons into conflict in Europe."
