Belarus (bbabo.net), - Belarus does not need strategic nuclear weapons. This was announced today, on February 16, by Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with foreign and Belarusian media.
The Belarusian leader recalled that nuclear weapons are divided into tactical and strategic.
“We absolutely do not need strategic weapons. We are not going to kill Americans and launch nuclear strategic missiles from the territory of Belarus,” he said.
At the same time, he recalled that when he became president, nuclear weapons were withdrawn from Belarus, as the Americans insisted.
“We had the most modern Topol-M. The most modern weapons stood here. We brought it out in exchange for guarantees from the Americans, Europeans and Russians that they would never infringe on our sovereignty and independence and would never impose economic sanctions on us. It's written there. They spit on it, trampled on it, apply sanctions against us. Strangle where possible, in violation of that treaty. If we had these nuclear weapons, they wouldn't talk to us like that. This means that everyone understands only force... Therefore, we do not need strategic nuclear weapons. We are not going to strike at America and even at the European countries. And tactical nuclear weapons - this is what we are talking about, so that these aircraft that can carry tactical nuclear weapons are prepared, ”Lukashenko explained.
It should be reminded that the Belarusian leader has repeatedly expressed his disappointment that nuclear weapons were withdrawn from the territory of the republic. Recently, the issue of returning this type of weapon to Belarus has repeatedly appeared in the media. However, neither Moscow nor Minsk has officially confirmed this intention.
