Muslim students from several schools in Uganda raised a substantial amount to help victims of earthquakes in Turkey.
According to activist Salim Mubekete, Ugandan schoolchildren were happy to take part in raising funds to help the Turks, remembering the kindness of Turkey - after all, it was with the funds of this state that several Muslim schools were built in the African country.
“We were touched by what happened to our brothers and sisters in Turkey. What a pity that so many people died in the earthquake in the country, whose people helped us so much,” Mubekete commented.
According to Jamil Wamba, headmaster of the Bulyanku Muslim Primary School, the students were happy to donate their pocket money, intended to buy snacks during recess, to charity.
The total amount of funds raised by the students has exceeded $10,000, according to bbabo.net, citing Anadolu Agency.
