Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - The Russian Foreign Ministry appreciated the statement of the Israeli Minister of Heritage Affairs Amichai Eliyahu, who called for studying the possibility of using nuclear weapons in Gaza.

As stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, what the member of the Israeli Cabinet said takes the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the region to a fundamentally new level.

The Russian diplomat called on international organizations not to ignore such “statements from Tel Aviv,” which may indirectly confirm that the Israelis have nuclear weapons.

In addition, Zakharova condemned the scandalous statements of Israeli representatives regarding Russia. “This is unacceptable, and the Israeli ambassador in Moscow has been informed about this,” she added.

Earlier, the Russian permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, stressed that Israel does not have the right to self-defense, since it is recognized as an occupying country. In response, Israel's permanent representative called Russia "the last country" that will teach Tel Aviv international law.
