Russia (bbabo.net) - Christmas has a long tradition that is felt at the festive table for at least forty-three percent of Austrians. They serve the same food every year, according to an Iglo poll among thousands of citizens from all regions.

About 15 percent of the respondents serve cold snacks to the table, 13 percent - fried sausages, twelve - fondue and soup. Carp and salmon are eaten by seven percent of the respondents, and six percent prefer a goose.

Taste preferences differ depending on the federal state. So, in Salzburg, soup is a traditional dish for 60 percent of the respondents, and in Upper Austria, more than half of the citizens prefer fried sausages.

In the states of Upper Austria, Burgenland, Carinthia and Tyrol, people adhere to traditional Christmas food, Die Presse writes.

Meanwhile, in Germany on Christmas Eve, there is a general ban on the use of smartphones in families. According to a survey by the German industry association Bitkom, two thirds of households (65%) consistently comply with this ban, but about one in three (35%) do not. In many families, smartphone use at Christmas has sparked intergenerational debate. The use of devices is especially criticized by the elderly.
