The European Union may cancel visas for citizens of Ukraine in 2016, the representative of Ukraine to the EU Kostiantyn Yelisieiev said in his interview with Radio Liberty.

“Today, the situation looks quite positive and encouraging. I would like to confirm once again that the cancellation of visas for Ukrainians could occur in 2016. Moreover, we almost know the exact month when it happens, but I would not like to get ahead of myself,” he said.

He stressed that the Ukrainian ministries and agencies should accelerate the implementation of a number of specific criteria under the Action Plan on the visa-free regime.

According to Yelisieiev, the key point that has been recently achieved is that Ukraine eliminated all political obstacles from the EU towards visa liberalization.
