Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - The United Arab Emirates is the largest investor in the Russian economy; over the past year, investments in the Russian oil sector have grown by 103%. This was stated by UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Abu Dhabi.

Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan noted that relations between the Russian Federation and the UAE are historical. He added that in recent years relations have actively developed in various areas in the interests of both countries and peoples.

“I would like to emphasize that I greatly appreciate your personal role and effective role in strengthening bilateral relations,” he said.

“And in this regard, I want to say that the UAE is Russia’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and the [Persian] Gulf region. “I would also like to note that the UAE is the largest investor in the Russian economy, and over the past year, investments in the oil sector have grown by 103 percent,” the UAE President continued. “I would like to separately note that this is an unprecedented leap, which indicates the special nature of relations between our countries. I will be happy to continue our joint work to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields. Of course, we give special priority to development in such areas as energy, infrastructure, advanced technologies and other areas.”

He drew attention to the fact that the UAE and the Russian Federation work together and cooperate at various international platforms.

“We also cooperate, for example, within the framework of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in which the Emirates received dialogue partner status in May last year. The strategic dialogue between the Russian Federation and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the [Persian] Gulf is also being developed and maintained,” the UAE President noted.
