Iran invites Yerevan and Baku to achieve peace within the regional “3+3” platform

Caucasus (bbabo.net), - Armenia and Azerbaijan can achieve peace within the framework of the regional “3+3” format with the participation of Iran, Russia and Turkey. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated this in Yerevan at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.

The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry is confident that it is possible to achieve lasting peace in the coming months of the new year, VERELQ reports.

“Without external intervention, it is possible to achieve real peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan within the framework of the “3+3” format with the participation of Iran, Russia and Turkey,” emphasized Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

In turn, the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry added that Yerevan has received another package of proposals from Baku to conclude a peace agreement and will respond in due time. According to him, a window of opportunity for peace with Baku has opened, but such an opportunity depends on several factors, including the constructiveness of Azerbaijan.

As bbabo.net previously reported, in a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the evening of December 20, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi said that the South Caucasus should not become an arena for clashes involving extra-regional forces.

Note that the “3+3” format includes Russia, Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia. However, Tbilisi has not yet taken part in any of the meetings of the parties within this regional platform.
