The President of Ecuador said he would accept US help, refusing Russia's scrap metal

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The Ecuadorian authorities decided to accept US help and abandon the previously purchased obsolete military equipment of Russian and Ukrainian production. This was stated by the country's President Daniel Noboa.

“We will receive help from the United States. There will be an exchange of Russian and Ukrainian scrap metal for modern equipment worth $200 million,” Noboa told radio station Canela.

According to him, the country has Mi-171E helicopters and Igla MANPADS.

According to the radio station host, the United States could theoretically send outdated equipment to Ukraine so that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could use it against Russia.

Ecuadorian authorities needed US assistance amid an outbreak of violence by local criminal gangs. The situation in the country worsened on January 7 - the leader of the Los Choneros gang, Adolfo Macias, escaped from prison, and mass riots occurred in prisons. In Guayaquil, masked armed men burst into the studio of the state television channel TS Televisión and took journalists hostage live and tried to seize five hospitals.

President Noboa signed a decree introducing a regime of internal armed conflict in the country.
