Pakistan says Iranian strike could have serious consequences

Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - The strike carried out by the Iranian Armed Forces on the territory of Pakistan is a violation of the country's airspace, which can lead to serious consequences. This is stated in a statement by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry posted on the department’s website.

“Pakistan strongly condemns Iran's unprovoked violation of its airspace and strike on Pakistani territory, which killed two innocent children and injured three girls. This violation of Pakistan's sovereignty is completely unacceptable and could have serious consequences,” the statement said.

“Even more alarming is the fact that this happened despite the existence of several channels of communication between Pakistan and Iran,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry said that a “strong protest” had already been expressed by the Pakistani side to “a senior official of the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran.” In addition, Iran's charge d'affaires was summoned to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry in connection with the incident.

“Terrorism is a common threat to all countries in the region and requires coordinated action. Such unilateral actions are not consistent with good neighborly relations and can seriously undermine mutual trust,” the Pakistani foreign ministry added.

The Iranian Tasnim agency previously reported that the Iranian armed forces had struck two headquarters of the Jaysh al-Zolm terrorist group, located in Pakistan. According to the agency, drones and missiles were used in the operation.

On the night of January 10, terrorists from Jaysh al-Zolm attacked a checkpoint between the cities of Rask and Jangal in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan in southeastern Iran, killing a policeman. The group has previously claimed responsibility for terrorist attacks on the Iran-Pakistan border, as well as attacks on Iranian border service personnel.
